
A b o u t U l f E k e l u n d
Ulf Ekelund is working at the ED of Skåne University Hospital in Lund, Sweden, where he is a specialist in internal and emergency medicine. He is senior lecturer of emergency medicine and associate professor of physiology at Lund University. Since 2006, he is member of the board and scientific secretary of the Swedish Society of Emergency Medicine (SWESEM). His clinical and research interests encompass the diagnosis and management of chest pain in the ED, acute cardiovascular effects of oxygen, prehospital and ED care pathways and ED management and patient flow. As the scientific secretary of SWESEM, he is the initiator and chairman of the steering committee of the currently developing Swedish national quality registry for emergency medicine. Via Ulf, SWESEM yearly sends residents to EMEDEX at the Kings County Hospital at Brooklyn, NYC, for a 2 week rotation.
Ulf did his preclinical and clinical training at Lund University and Lund University Hospital, and has been working clinically at both the Lund and Malmö University Hospitals in Sweden. He did a postdoc year 1997-98 at the Division of cardiology, The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md, USA.
