Dr. Bonnie Arquilla is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Director of Disaster Preparedness for the State University of New York at Downstate/Kings County Medical Center, one of the largest Trauma Centers in the United States.
Dr. Arquilla completed her internship at Methodist Hospital and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, New York. In her role of Director of Disaster Preparedness she provides consultation to The New York City Police Department, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, New York City’s Health and Hospitals Corporation, the American Red Cross of Greater New York, the New York City Department of Education, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority Centers for Disease Control.
Dr. Arquilla is the Co-chair of the Pediatric Task Force for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Chairperson. She is the founder of the Disaster Preparedness Fellowship Program at SUNY Downstate. Along with Dr. Michael Augenbraun at SUNY DOWNSTATE she developed New York Institute, All Hazards Preparedness (NYIAHP) a unique program in its approach to community based preparation and planning for disasters. NYIAHP is responsible under, Dr. Arquilla’s leadership, for creating and implementing disaster exercises, some of the largest and most complicated in the United States.
